Curriculum Resources

What is Song Moo Kwan Curriculum?

Founder Ro never specified an official curriculum for Song Moo Kwan. His direct students took that to heart as they grew their schools. Many stayed with the Pyung-Ahn set. Others moved to the Palgwe. A handful created their own sets of forms. Today, another generation or two down the lineage will find many active with World Taekwondo. The truth is that all forms will teach the same things. Step sparring and free sparring will always be important to development. Other pieces are valuable also if they follow the concepts and principles.

Re-connecting to history

The main goal for the curriculum portion of this organization is to collect what is being taught by those who continue Song Moo Kwan. This will provide an opportunity for Legacy (2nd generation students) to offer the knowledge that they gained from the Pioneers. It will acknowledge that there are many branches and many developments that have happened over the years. WSMKF will collect the curriculum from members and make it a resource for members. There are many questions about how to teach better and help their students more. Having other pieces of curriuclum available will help members delve deeper into training.

how will testing happen?

Orphaned students from through Samdan will be directed to state or regional schools to continue training and test there. Members that are already teaching will get the option of becoming part of a nearby school to gain curriculum OR they can work with the state and regional directors to further develop their current curriculum. Those that choose to continue developing their curriculum will be creating the plans for their student's testing. Wherever the curriculum ends, the new material starts. A school that only has curriculum through Samdan will develop more. The teacher of that school creates the Sadan test and performs it as their next test.
